Previous Events

Senior Expo:

Our Senior Expo was on March 17 from 11:00am-2:00pm.  About 20 vendors attended the event and there was food and door prizes during the event.

Harvest Time Party:

The Harvest Time Party was a huge success! About 45 residents enjoyed great food provided by management including chicken, sandwiches, fruits, and vegetables, and a host of desserts provided by the residents. Management also provided a tasty Halloween-themed cake that was a hit as well. The residents enjoyed listening and dancing to a great variety of music provided by our favorite DJ and musician, Mr. Lincoln Ross. We had 12 Camp Fire Teens and Rosemary attending the event as well and they were nice enough to help serve the food and drinks. We had a costume contest that everyone enjoyed and 5 residents each won a $15 gift card to Walmart. The contests were great because they generated even more resident participation. About 10 residents helped with setting up the scary but equisite and décor and helped with cleaning up after the event. Overall, this was another successful event at Laurel Lakes and we are very excited to have everyone together again for our Thanksgiving Feast coming up.

Halloween Party:

In October about forty-five residents enjoyed great food including chicken, sandwiches, fruit, and vegetables provided by management, and a host of dessert provided by residents. Management also provided a tasty Halloween-themed cake. The residents enjoyed listening to and dancing to a great variety of music provided by our favorite, Mr. Lincoln Ross (musician and DJ). Twelve Camp Fire Teens and Rosemary Pezzuto, Camp Fire CEO attended. The teens helped serve food and drinks. Residents enjoyed interacting and dancing with the teens. There was a costume contest and 5 residents won $15 gift cards to Walmart. The contests were great because they generated even more resident participation. The décor was exquisite and scary. Shalini and management received compliments from several residents on the décor. About ten residents helped with setting up and cleaning up after the event.

Flu Clinic:

In September Maxim Health Systems provided flu shots to 15 residents.

Ladies Team Building Tea Party:

Gloria Chiantella, a Certified Diversity Executive and Professional, lead this event in August. About 30 female residents attended. Gloria encouraged residents to record wishes, issues, or concerns on a slip of paper and place them in a bowl as part of a team building exercise. Shavon and Shalini randomly picked out slips read the written comments, and everybody had an open discussion. This was a great activity with constructive, respectful, and inclusive conversations. Management provided tea and a variety of snacks.

Residents meet at RE event and Marry:

Two of our Senior Residents from two different communities, Laurel Lakes and Clinton Manor got married this fall. They met at a few Laurel Lakes parties to which Duncan invited Clinton Manor residents, the first one being three years ago. They are now living happily ever after at Clinton Manor

Carnival Party:

In August about forty-five residents attended and enjoyed the festive carnival decor, music, and food including hot dogs, chips, fruits, and drinks. Rosemary Pezzuto, CEO of Camp Fire, her two staff, and twelve Camp Fire Teens arrived one hour prior to help with setting up and decorating. Residents had a great time playing carnival games which were borrowed from Clinton Manor. The games included bean bag toss, goldfish ping pong, bottle ring toss, and toilet paper toss. Residents picked prizes such as totes, water bottles, jewelry, and more when they scored a certain number of points. There was a raffle at which 10 residents won $10 gift cards to Walmart. Camp Fire Teens mingled with the residents and helped with the games. One of the Camp Fire staff who knew sign language socialized with a new deaf resident throughout the event. Two residents helped with cleaning up after the event. A fun time was had by all!

Crab Feast:

This was a resident run event. Management purchased the crabs. This event was open to all residents, however, there were more friends and family in attendance this year than in the past. About ten residents and fifteen family and friends attended. Crabs and barbeque inspired dishes were provided.
